Well, this bio has taken a long time to finally write. But here goes…

I am a composer in Los Angeles who does a lot of film composing. However, I love ALL kinds of music. I have been writing everything imaginable and that seems to be what I love to do most.

I try to lead some semblance of a balanced life with yoga, reading, sleeping, working out, surfing, tennis, etc, however, sometimes schedules get the best of me. In general, however, I have a lot of unbridled passion in me which seems to find it’s outlet in music.

So, here are a couple of the major things…

Hailing from New York, Brandon Roberts developed his musical interests at a young age. His talents in jazz earned him awards from Clint Eastwood and The Monterey Jazz Festival. In 1995 he began studies at the University of Southern California where he composed for many of the jazz ensembles. In addition, he began writing for orchestra and soon entered into the prestigious USC Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television graduate program. Here he studied with industry greats including Elmer Bernstein, David Raksin and Christopher Young.

Upon graduating from the University of Southern California, Brandon continued composing for independent films, television, and albums in a wide range of styles. In 2001, he composed the music for the feature film Phobic (Vivamorem Entertainment) as well as the Chinese/American theatrical release, Hi, Frank, for which he conducted and recorded in China with the Beijing Philharmonic Orchestra. His score for the dramatic film, Back Up, Please, won him an award at the Houston Worldfest Film Festival in 2003.

In 2004, he composed, recorded and conducted the music for the newly released feature film, Sea of Fear (Lions Gate Films) at Warner Brother Studios. In addition, his orchestral arrangements for the Jeremy Camp albums Stay (2002) and Restored (2004) have earned him two gold albums.
As a conductor, Brandon has led several sessions of his own in Los Angeles as well as been assistant conductor of the Glendale Youth Orchestra. His concert pieces have included large suites for orchestra, jazz arrangements, and chamber works.

In addition to orchestral composition, Brandon’s band project, The Abstract Sound, provides a unique array of textural music and ambiance for several albums and his own film scores. Presently, The Abstract Sound is completing an album based on Alice in Wonderland as well as Music for Space Travel for yoga and meditation.

Recently, Brandon composed music for the upcoming film, Entry Level (starring D.B. Sweeney - premiering in Monte Carlo) and the multi-award winning film, Keeper of the Myth. In addition, he has orchestrated on and prepared music for Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard (Bruce Willis), Underworld 2: Evolution (Kate Beckinsale), Big Mamma’s House 2 (Martin Lawrence), The Pursuit of Happyness (Will Smith) and the 2006 remake of When A Stranger Calls. His arrangements can be found in the video game world as well including the award winning Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, SOCOM: US Navy Seals 4, and the upcoming Warhawk for Playstation 3.

At 30 years old, Brandon has composed the music for over 20 films, conducted and recorded around the world, as well as begun work on his first symphony.
